Well, the holidays are upon us once more. Coincidentally, I just happened across this little holiday gem. Hilarious how slowing down old TV ads to half their speed can have such a hilarious effect. My early Christmas present to you is this: Drunk Jeff Goldblum. If anybody sees this guy at a holiday cocktail party, please get some video so we can compare.
Cheers.

I had an idea for a television show. I know it’s only a matter of time before it actually gets made, so to plant my flag and protect my intellectual property from would-be idea pirates, I thought I’d publish the general premise of the show here on the internet. You’re all considered witnesses now.

When I posted a non-exhaustive list of my Dislikes a few days ago, it was suggested that I post something of this nature. I wouldn’t call these “creature comforts” (that’s another phrase I’d put on the list of dislikes), but here’s a bunch of things I consider the little pleasures in life. Please enjoy.
Peanut butter.
Showers.
“Jerry Maguire.”

I took this three minute long exposure one night when I was biking around San Francisco. Upon closer examination, I’m convinced that I may have actually been in an earthquake: the foreground (tree, dock, cement wall) are all perfectly clear while the background elements (Alcatraz, Oakland) have a noticeable vertical blur. What would account for this? Well, I think the ground I was standing on may have moved slightly. This would have been imperceptible in the foreground, but background elements would have appear to have an exponential shift. So there you have it: the physics on why I was probably in an earthquake. That, or it was human error… And an earthquake seems far more likely.
Either way, I still think it looks pretty neat.

I think it was Auschwitz survivor Viktor Frankl who said that “the existential vacuum manifests itself mainly in a state of boredom.” Well color me bored, but I’ve been asking existential questions of myself recently.

As you may have gathered by the infrequency and randomness of posts (in addition to the fact that only about 12 people even know this page exists), I am not a power-blogger. I don’t even much care for the word ‘blog.’ I mean, it’s a contraction for “weblog.” Do the two extra letters really make it an unmanageable mouthful? But I digress. The point of this writing is to pen a glowing review of WordPress. I received the following in an email on January 2, 2011:

Typically, I get about one good idea a day. Unfortunately for my employer, today’s idea has nothing to do with any of our clients.

To my one and only blog reader (well, besides me when I’m bored/slow/nostalgic)–thanks for hanging out last night. I like your sober friend. I also liked your drunk friends. But mostly I enjoyed having a good-length talk about life and all when we couldn’t find a cab. And the cab situation, friend, is just one more thing that makes Fort Collins “Fort Fun.”
Talk to you Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.

Not that anybody is still actually reading this (they aren’t), but I just had a song play across my iTunes that gave me a chill. A song I used to listen to in high school and sometimes college. I always loved it and had forgotten about it. And hearing it again out of the blue was kind of like finding a $20 in your jacket pocket from last winter. All you can think is “oh sweet!” and, in the case of the song, you (in this case, me) listen to it repeatedly.
I highly advise checking out this song. It’s called “End the Washington Monument (Blinks) Goodnight” and it’s by a group that was called Q And Not U, out of Washington D.C. You can hear it at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NqUuAkD1jY.
You’re welcome.
Oh. Em. Gee.
I just got the new iPhone (the ’4′), and let me tell you… it’s pretty stellar.
