As you may have gathered by the infrequency and randomness of posts (in addition to the fact that only about 12 people even know this page exists), I am not a power-blogger. I don’t even much care for the word ‘blog.’ I mean, it’s a contraction for “weblog.” Do the two extra letters really make it an unmanageable mouthful? But I digress. The point of this writing is to pen a glowing review of WordPress. I received the following in an email on January 2, 2011:
The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

The Blog-Health-o-Meter™ reads This blog is doing awesome!.
Crunchy numbers
The Leaning Tower of Pisa has 296 steps to reach the top. This blog was viewed about 1,000 times in 2010. If those were steps, it would have climbed the Leaning Tower of Pisa 3 times
In 2010, there were 45 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 87 posts. There were 67 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 189mb. That’s about a picture per week.
The busiest day of the year was January 31st with 64 views. The most popular post that day was Recent email exchange..
Where did they come from?

Some visitors came searching, mostly for the danger belt, cozumel danger, danger in cozumel, the dangerbelt, and danger belt.

Now I have to admit, it takes a bit of humility to show my cards to you, reader. But only a bit, since there aren’t that many readers anyway. Clearly there aren’t many commenters. Not even tons of views. But I think this is all the more impressive: WordPress has taken the time to develop something that makes even small-time bloggers (ugh) like me feel like they’ve got some sort of valid, noteworthy contribution to the web. And though I’m sure this was autogenerated by some web statistic algorithm, it’s still an investment in their product–in my opinion, a sweet one.

Even the most humble just like to know that their words matter.
